Walgreen's 101: Register Rewards

>> Thursday, June 4, 2009

I had a question on the register rewards at Walgreen's. The question was, "Can you use a R.R to buy the same item?" That answer is yes you can use the RR to buy same thing....however...you knew there had to be one...if you use a RR to buy something that is supposed to pop out another RR you will not get that RR. (awhile back they had an Irish springs promotion that was messing up and spitting out RR when you used the RR it was great! :)

That is why I was a little put off when I bought the dryer and got the $10 RR. I should have kept that RR. Then when I bought the next dryer again I should have just paid for it and kept the RR that popped out but I was not thinking and the lady asked me if I wanted to use my previous RR and I said yes. So it did take off that $10 RR but I did not get another one because I used that one at the purchase.

So I would have paid out 12.99 x 2 = 26 plus tax and I would have gotten back $20 RR having really only pd $6 bucks plus tax for the dryers. However, me being me got all turned upside down pd $12.99 plus tax for the first one and got the 10 bucks back which I used and paid 2.99 plus tax for the other = $16 plus tax and no other RR. SEE why I was mad at myself?

Hopefully this helps explain it more.

Walgreen's Alert 101

>> Tuesday, February 3, 2009

The word around the block is that this is the last month for Walgreen's Easy Saver Catalog. No official word on how the "new" program will work but some have heard rumors that they will go to a 'cvs' type system.

I for one would love to try a different system. I hate the rebates because I forget to enter them. I do not like the way they use the register rewards and having to match the easy saver coupons can be a lot of work if you haven't blogged to see what the deals are that week.

Has anyone heard any other rumors if so please share in the comments. Do you think Walgreen's changes will be good or do you like the system the way it is?

Walgreen's Double Up Days

>> Thursday, September 25, 2008

Every month there is a period of time when the Walgreen September Easy Saver Rebate book and the October Easy Saver Rebate book overlap. What does this mean? EXTRA SAVINGS! Let me try to explain and hopefully it makes sense to everyone. I got my explanation from sisterly savings so please visit her blog site for more explanations and savings. She does a great job.

Walgreen's 101
Double Up Days

Double Up days are a period (Friday and Saturday of the end of the month) when the two rebate/easy saver savings overlap.

The Easy Saver monthly ends on the last Saturday of the month allowing this wonderful overlap that has some great savings.

The best part of these days are that you can double up on your savings. One way is the rebates. You can use the rebates from both months. You can also use the IVC (instant value coupon) from either book to up your savings.

For a way better explanation please go to sisterly savings to see her 101 on Double days.

Walgreen's 101: EasySaver Rebates

If you're like many people (myself included), you may have been passing Walgreen's by in lieu of the great deals at CVS. However, lately as the deals at CVS have waned, Walgreen's seems intent on picking up their slack.

So if you're a seasoned drugstore game player looking to expand your horizons or a Walgreen's newbie altogether, this series is for you!

There are three different ways to create deals at Walgreen's. Today I'll outline the EasySaver Rebates program and how you can take advantage of it to actually earn money on your purchases. Yep, you read that right. If you plan your deals carefully, you can actually earn money on your purchases!

The key to the EasySaver program is the EasySaver catalog. You can pick one of these up at your local Walgreen's, where they usually can be found with the weekly flyers. The deals run monthly, and generally there are a few items that are free after rebate in each catalog, as well as a number of items with lesser rebates. Be sure to check your weekly flyers regularly. Often items will go on sale throughout the month and will become free after rebate when the sale is factored in.

Look for coupons to pair with the free after rebate items to get the most for your money. It's absolutely that simple. You'll receive the full price of the item back as a rebate, so any coupons you use in conjunction with a free after rebate item will actually allow you to earn money on your purchase!

Watch for periodic $/$$ coupons. Walgreen's often issues $5 off a $20 purchase or $10 off a $40 purchase coupons to spur sales. In the past these were typically found at month end. However lately they've been releasing them throughout the month, almost always on a Thursday. Stack one of these with your item coupons on free after rebate purchases and your earnings will go through the roof.

Submit your rebate(s) online. Walgreen's recently simplified their rebate submission process. You just have to register online, enter the information from your receipt, and submit it. You can even enter your purchases throughout the month and wait to submit everything until the end. There are no UPC codes to fuss with, and you don’t even have to pay for postage. Talk about convenient!

Have your rebate savings put on a Walgreen's gift card. Walgreen's will generously add an additional 10% bonus to your rebate if you choose to have it put on a Walgreen's gift card. You can then use this gift card to pay for the following month's free after rebate items or anything else you might need. (Diapers anyone?) And Walgreen's can reload the same card every time you submit for future rebates allowing you to receive your payments even faster. So it's a convenience and earns you more!
