She makes a valid point that one needs to be really careful about buying gift cards since so many stores are going out of business and the gift cards are invalid then. She has a list of possible stores closing near you so keep a eye out and be careful with your money.

If you are a gift card buyer then consider a visa gift card this year. You can buy them from the bank or places like Walgreen's have been having sales where the service fee for the activation is waved w/coupons.
